Istanbul...

It's been a busy few days, wrapping up. More on our last day in Kars and our group wrap-up meetings... For now, a few photos from Istanbul. On Sunday night, I went to a soccer game between Fenerbahce (an Istanbul team) and Trabzon Spor. It was probably one of the coolest experiences I've had in a while.  And it was great just to have some fun after a long week of work!  Fenerbahce, alas, only tied Trabzon Spor which led to a great amount of rage directed at the opposing team... So much rage that a group of fans rushed their bus as they immediately departed the stadium and the riot police made our exit from the stadium all the more interesting by shooting pepper gas into the crowd. It stung!  Got home safe and sound and en route back to Easton after a really exciting and learning-packed and fun-filled trip.

On Wednesday, you should bring your "what do historians do?" essays to class and we will have a great catch-up over Turkish delight.

See you soon!
